One Picture

There is only one picture of us together
Taken from your cell phone and sent to me
Grainy and distorted. Didn't we deserve better?
That world is sealed, I do not have the key

So it's true, I say, looking at the picture
It all happened just as I remembered
I have no other proof that you existed
It happened so fast, it feels like I missed it

My window where the fresh air flows through
An image of when our world was young and new
I don't remember anything, not even yesterday
But I still see your face just like it was yesterday

Our keys to happiness hang from our necks
Mine around yours - Yours around mine
You took both halves of that white gold heart
And locked me in this one track mind

You do not smile. You never smiled
Your eyes remain undeciphered to me
Your heart is closed, I do not have the key
Even though your face is the only face I see

There are no other pictures, no chronology to make
There is only that one moment, in its frozen state
I don't remember anything, not even yesterday
But I still see your face just like it was yesterday

You held the old cell phone pointed back at us
I braced for the bomb-flash, you stared unafraid
In a flash we were here, and yet gone forever
I just wanted more pictures of us together
